December 2021: Christmas in a Bottle

The Benefits of Thieves Oil

With Christmas Eve just over a week away, we hope that everyone is feeling the joy of the season. This is a busy time of year, so for this month’s blog, we want to keep things simple. If you are feeling run down from the rush, check out last month’s blog on how we can help. But if you’re just not in the Christmas spirit quite yet, we think we know just the thing.

As you enter the door to the studio, you may have noticed that we usually have a diffuser running in the background. We love the calming effect it provides for the room, and it keeps the environment friendly for clients who may have chemical sensitivities. We love essential oils for their versatility, which fits perfectly with Wellness Made Simple. You may remember from our first blog that our platinum ozone sauna combines 10 therapies in one session! One of the therapies is the diffusion of essential oil into the sauna steam. But you never have to pay extra for this benefit – every HOCATT session always includes an essential oil of your choice for the aromatherapy and transdermal benefits.

Client favorite oils include lavender, peppermint, and frankincense. We can’t choose an overall favorite– they’re all so good!– but we can pick one for just the month of December.

Thieves is a powerful combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary oils, specially formulated for synergistic benefits.

Since we already mentioned that the versatility of essential oils aligns with “Wellness made simple,” you already know that our favorite oil for December is a multi-tasker. Each oil in the Thieves blend stands impressive in its own right. Although we could gush about the capabilities of our essential oils for several blogs, we promised you we’d keep this one short. So we’ll chat briefly about three oils in Thieves: eucalyptus, lemon, and clove.

Of the oils in the Thieves blend, Eucalyptus might be the most popular; it is certainly another client favorite here at Bluestem. With a brisk, therapeutic scent, eucalyptus acts as a cough-suppressant and pain-reliever. It has also been demonstrated to cleanse the air when diffused. Many people may have experienced the benefits of eucalyptus without even realizing it. Eucalyptus oil is a primary ingredient in Vicks VapoRub.

Lemon is another popular essential oil in the Thieves blend. Anyone who has ever DIY’d their own version of a non-toxic cleaning product has probably seen recipes that call for lemon essential oil. Lemon is also present in our Citrus oil blend, which some clients like for their saunas, too! What is it about the scent of lemon? It just smells clean. But, much like eucalyptus, lemon has been demonstrated to pack some potent antibacterial power, even against food-borne pathogens. There’s a reason that even Lysol is lemon-scented! Lemon doesn’t just smell clean. It is clean.

Finally, Clove oil. Many people are familiar with clove for its aromatic presence, and it adds bold flavor to holiday recipes. But clove isn’t just a spice. Like eucalyptus and lemon, clove earned its spot in the potent Thieves blend. Clove has been demonstrated to provide anti-fungal benefits. Because of this, you’re also likely to find clove in herbal parasite cleanses for your pets.

Given what we now know about the antimicrobial properties of the individual oils in the blend, it makes sense that Thieves is used as a cleaning solution. It provides gentle but powerful toxin-free cleaning without the potential for negative respiratory and reproductive impact of conventional alternatives.

Wellness Made Simple doesn’t end when you leave the studio. After a sauna session, you feel your improved sleep quality. After 12 minutes in the HUGO, you feel the decrease in pain and inflammation. When you’re at the studio, you can also order any of the Young Living oils and products to use at home too, for a discount. It would make a great stocking stuffer!
